This is insane.
Google is threatening to cut access to Google Search in schools that ban students from using its AI.
This is extortion, plain and simple—especially when you consider that 90% of school districts rely on Google’s products (especially Chromebooks, Google Docs, and Google Classroom).

Google Will Turn Off Search for Schools That Reject A.I. (Gift Article)
Google is making it easier to restrict its A.I. tools for students. But schools that block A.I. entirely will lose student access to Google’s search engine.

Donald Trump’s priorities are completely out of whack. And Republicans in Congress have enabled him every step of the way.
The sun is setting on the Republican majority. And I’m taking that rainbow behind me as a sign of hope.

This whole situation is absurd.
Jessie was pursuing lawful status through a pending asylum claim. He'd obtained Canadian citizenship through his adopted father and was on his way to Canada when NH police stopped him 15 miles from the border and called ICE, who detained him for overstaying his visa.

Happy Halloween, everyone! 🎃
Feeling fortunate to be home in Maine tonight for some trick-or-treating with the grandkids. No better company for a fun Halloween night.
Wishing you all a safe and spooky night—and a candy haul with at least a few Needhams (or maybe even a potato?)!
Preserving Maine’s history means investing in the people and places keeping it alive.
Yesterday, I visited Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village in New Gloucester to see its exciting restoration projects—and hear about the work ahead at the world’s last active Shaker community.

And that doesn't include the unknown damages to U.S. military bases.
That’s enough to pay for Medicaid for 4.4 million people.
Or a year of SNAP benefits for millions of families struggling to put food on the table.
Or tuition at a public 4-year college for ~4 million students.

I also saw how federal grants have helped them grow + improve their operations.
Up and down the East Coast, homes are collapsing into the sea and causing significant pollution—with debris scattered across beaches + coastal waters.
Climate change is accelerating sea-level rise erosion, putting these homes at risk.
Our insurance system is making the problem worse.

When we say “Trump owns this war,” we don’t just mean politically.
He’s literally profiting off it—to the tune of tens of millions of dollars.

3 yrs ago, Maine suffered one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history.
18 people lost their lives. A city was shaken to its core. For all of Maine—and especially for the families whose hearts were shattered by the loss of a loved one—it’s a tragedy that will never be forgotten.
I hear it all the time in Maine: property taxes are too damn high. So is just about everything else these days.
And Republicans in Washington keep making it worse. Now the Trump administration is telling states to prepare to shoulder more of the cost of disaster relief.
